No matter your age, the benefits of playing basketball are many. The game will increase your aerobic capacity and endurance as well as strengthen muscles and bones. It improves balance and coordination, decreases body fat, and increases muscle mass. Basketball is a great cardiovascular and whole-body workout for all ages. As you grow older, it is even more important to stay physically fit, so be sure to include basketball in your daily exercise routine!
There are many factors that determine how much basketball you should play each day. In general, the following guidelines apply:
- Beginners aged 10-13 years old should play for less than 30 minutes per session.
- Intermediate players aged 14-19 years old should play no more than 60 minutes per session.
- Advanced players aged 20+ years old can push their limits to up to 90 minutes of play in a single day.
Basketball is a fun game and we all love to get out there and play. The best way to improve at basketball is to play as much as you can, but not so much that you’re ignoring the other important aspects of training.
